Firehawks Rack Up 4-1 Win Versus Anchorage
|
Jonny Hammersticks, who is tied for 2nd in the MiLPBE in wins with 11, never let the Wheelers get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his circle change, to pitch the Firehawks to a win, 4-1. The winning pitcher was Hammersticks, now 11-7. He tossed 7.2 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 3. The save went to Raul Chamgerlain, his 16th this season.
Ethan Voss went 1-3 with 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for California. The 22-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Teddy Mantle. It was his 29th walk of the season.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said California skipper . "I can't complain."
With the win, the Firehawks sit at 46-39.
