Flamingos Win at Anchorage, 5-1
|
Florida Flamingos starter Lilo Pelekai hurled his team past the Anchorage Wheelers, 5-1. Pelekai, now 9-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. With the win, the Flamingos have a record of 48-37.
Florida used a well-timed hit by Boyz II Chess, Back Again to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Flamingos ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Flamingos manager , "I like our chances."
