Ranas Get One-Run Win at Chicago
The Puerto Rico Ranas withstood an impressive performance by Chicago second baseman Ishmael Tejada to defeat the Kingpins, 8-7, at The Jose Forty-Three Stadium. Tejada went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Jean-Jacques François Jacques-Jean, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 4-8. Kerr Mitt was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 4 save opportunities.

The result might have been different for Puerto Rico, had it not been for Votto Joey, the 24-year old left fielder . Joey stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put Puerto Rico up, 8-2. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Joey said.

Even with the win, the Ranas have a dismal 24-66 record.
