Firehawks Win Streak Reaches 6
|
The California Firehawks weathered an outstanding game by Brew City third baseman Trevor Lopez to topple the Bears, 10-8. Lopez went 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. California reliever Anthony De Luca picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Maru Zensky absorbed the loss. The first-place Firehawks have won 6 straight.
Rusty Menard had a big bases-clearing double for the Firehawks in the bottom of the sixth inning. With California leading 7-6 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Rufus LaFaro, who is tied for 7th in the MiLPBE with a 6.4 K/9 rate, and swatted a double to left. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Firehawks ahead, 10-6.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Firehawks manager . "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
