California Breaks Through for First Win in First Round; Now Trails 2-1
|
The California Firehawks have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Florida Flamingos, winning, 5-2, at PBE Bigger Strange Podcast Stadium: Home of the Waterpigeons. Firehawks left-hander Dr. Hubert Malbec threw 7.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Firehawks to 2-1 in the best-of-5 First Round.
Coleman Carver dealt the Flamingos a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and California leading 1-0, Carver hit a 1-0 knuckle curve for a 2-run double.
Carver called the win "a team effort."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at PBE Bigger Strange Podcast Stadium: Home of the Waterpigeons in Providence.
