State College Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
The State College Swift Steeds got a strong game from starter Li Tattersall, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Swift Steeds took the 2-1 win over the Florida Flamingos in Game 2 of the Semi-FInals in a 12th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the left-handed Tattersall. Tattersall threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball in the win, which gave the Swift Steeds a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Batting in the bottom of the 12th, 21-year old shortstop Rice Shower had a real shot to win the game. Florida pitcher LaLa Dee was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Shower hit a run-scoring single. The Swift Steeds had a walk-off triumph.
Said Shower: "It's just one win, but it feels like more when you outlast a tough opponent."
The next game is set to be played for Thursday, September 28th , 2079 at Florida Man Park in Providence.
