Kingpins Turn Back Kansas City, 6-5
Crowds lined up early in front of The Jose Forty-Three Stadium, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2080 Minor League PBE season. On the mound was FireBob Nutting for the visiting Kansas City Hepcats and Rory Gorshall for the hometown Chicago Kingpins. In a spirited contest, the Kingpins pulled out the win, defeating the Hepcats by the score of 6-5. Especially impressive was Kif Kroker. Hunter Kratky, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 4.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Johanna Fensterhausen picked up his 1st save of the season.

Joe East drove in one run for Chicago. The 23-year old designated hitter had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Poe Poe. It was his 1st RBI of the season.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," East said.
