The Chicago Kingpins could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Rory Gorshall into a win. Instead, the State College Swift Steeds prevailed, 3-2. Gorshall threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The save went to Lisa Crockett, number 1 for him. Chicago drops to 6-3.
State College used the timely hitting of Willy Whacker to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Swift Steeds on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
State College manager called it "a pretty good win."
