Armadillos Suffer 5-1 Loss to California
|
The California Firehawks converted a terrific effort from starter Ima DudeMan into a win over the Amarillo Armadillos at PBE Bigger Strange Podcast Stadium: Home of the Waterpigeons. The Firehawks won the game by a final score of 5-1. DudeMan yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-1. The Armadillos fall to 5-8 and continue their lackluster start in 2079.
Mat Gamel had a big 2-run double for the Firehawks in the bottom of the first inning. With California leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a circle change from 22-year old right-handed pitcher VJ Edgecombe and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Firehawks ahead, 4-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Gamel told the California Gazette. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
