California Tops Chicago, 2-1

The California Firehawks, despite a fine performance by Chicago pitcher Roy Our Boy, grabbed a 2-1 win at The Jose Forty-Three Stadium. Our Boy allowed no runs over 6 innings. Yong-woo Jun, the winning pitcher, is now 3-0. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 3. The win gives California a record of 10-9.
California used the clutch hitting of Mat Gamel to snag the win. The shortstop drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Firehawks ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Firehawks manager .
