Florida Hands California 6-3 Defeat
|
Behind a solid performance from left fielder McScootie Fortune, the Florida Flamingos defeated the California Firehawks, 6-3. Fortune went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Flamingos. The winning pitcher was LaLa Dee. He tossed 96 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. Junior O'Callaghan recorded his 2nd save for Florida.
Dan Thunder, who is tied for 8th in the MiLPBE in extra base hits with 8, helped out the Florida cause in the top of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the shortstop went 1 for 4 with a walk.
In postgame comments to the Florida Daily, Thunder said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Firehawks fall to 9-11 and continue to sputter in the early going.
