The Anchorage Wheelers faced a tough opponent in Kansas City pitcher FireBob Nutting, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Center for Kansas City Kids That Can't Read Good by a final score of 5-3. Nutting went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Today's win puts Anchorage at 10-13, while Kansas City falls to 13-10.
Anchorage used a timely hit from Brayden Verity to get the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Wheelers ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Verity.
