Florida Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
Fans who congregated at Florida Man Park were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Florida Flamingos topped the Anchorage Wheelers by a score of 5-3 in 17 innings. Leading the way was right fielder Lionel McSkallywags. McSkallywags was 2-6 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Flamingos. The win puts Florida at 8-18.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the 17th for Florida. That's when Peyton Shoelace hit a 2-run home run off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Rawburt Grimes [BOT] to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"Enjoyed this one," Shoelace told the Florida Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
