The California Firehawks finished off the Amarillo Armadillos, 5-2. Much of the credit belonged to third baseman Rusty Menard. Menard went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs for the Firehawks. Ingrid Keelhauler earned the win for California. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-2. The Firehawks improved their record to 15-12 with the win over Amarillo.

With California leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Menard hit a 2-run single off Amarillo hurler Junichi Komatsu. It was the 20th hit of the season for Menard and put his team ahead, 3-0.

"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Menard.
