Verity, Wheelers Beat Bears, 6-4
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Anchorage Wheelers and Brew City Bears.
Behind a fine performance from Brayden Verity, the Anchorage Wheelers knocked off the Brew City Bears, 6-4. Verity went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Wheelers. Greg Buse, credited with the win in relief, is now 5-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings.
Anchorage used the timely hitting of Nolan Bates to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Wheelers on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"When the ball finds the sweet spot," said Verity, "I can't complain."
Anchorage raised its record to 23-13 with the win.
