The rain came, as predicted, but the Chicago Kingpins and California Firehawks were able to complete their ballgame.

California designated hitter Devante Moore was sensational. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Chicago beat the Firehawks, 11-9. Chicago raised its record to 26-11 with the win.

The Firehawks had been locked in a 6-6 tie with the Kingpins going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old shortstop Dave Babipperson came to the plate. Babipperson hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch curveball from California hurler Chadison Bumgardener. It was Babipperson's 8th double of the year.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Babipperson, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
