The Kansas City Hepcats turned back the California Firehawks, 3-2, at Center for Kansas City Kids That Can't Read Good. Kif Kroker, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 4 for 4 with 4 singles. Bendrick Hollows, 3-4, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. The defeat makes California 20-18.
Josh Kupu drew 1 walk for Kansas City. The 22-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Wah Wong. It was his 23rd RBI of the season.
"It never gets old," said Kupu. "Winning, that is."
