Wheelers Prevail, 3-1, Over State College
|
The Anchorage Wheelers earned a close win over the State College Swift Steeds , thanks in part to Jiggs Kingman. The Anchorage left-hander, who is tied for 7th in the MiLPBE in strikeouts with 42, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. Kingman yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 5, and struck out 8. His record improves to 3-2. George Fantobens earned his 5th save, after closing out the game.
Anchorage took control in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, Samie Parker hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Wheelers.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Anchorage manager .
The last-place Wheelers improved to 16-22.
