Narrow Win Takes Anchorage Streak to 8
|
The Brew City Bears got a superb performance from pitcher Sloppy Joe. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Anchorage. The Wheelers won the game, 4-3. Joe threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Anchorage reliever Rawburt Grimes picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Lots-o'-Heineken Bear shouldered the loss. The 4th-place Bears have dropped 4 straight games.
The Wheelers procured the win, in large part because of shortstop Stanley Danks. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"We're playing like gangbusters right now," said Danks.
