Thanks in large part to designated hitter Bobby McDonald III, the Chicago Kingpins beat the California Firehawks, 9-6. McDonald III was 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Remmy Rattlesnake earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. Chicago has now won 5 in a row.

Chicago used the timely hitting of Oboe Femhausen to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Kingpins on top, 7-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Femhausen expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
