Firehawks Send Amarillo Home with 4-1 Loss
|
Jonny Hammersticks, who is tied for 3rd in the MiLPBE with a 7.5 K/9 rate, never let the Armadillos get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his circle change, to pitch the Firehawks to a win, 4-1. Hammersticks yielded 1 run over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 2. His record improves to 3-6. California is second in the West Division with a record of 22-18.
Ethan Ashcroft, who is tied for 8th in the MiLPBE in hits with 54, took Amarillo hurler Blake Faux III deep in the top of the first. His 3-run home run put the Firehawks on top, 3-0. In all, Ashcroft had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Ashcroft said.
