California Defeated by Louisville, 2-1
|
The California Firehawks wasted an impressive 9-inning effort from starter Jonny Tom, falling, 2-1, to the Louisville Lemurs at PBE Bigger Strange Podcast Stadium: Home of the Waterpigeons. Blake Faux III, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 2-3. The save went to Pim Pimling, his 4th this season.
Tiernan O'Malrain had a big solo home run for the Lemurs in the top of the fourth inning. With Louisville leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a changeup from Jonny Tom, who is tied for 3rd in the MiLPBE in quality starts with 8, and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lemurs ahead, 2-0.
Said California manager : "You just have to tip your cap sometimes."
The Lemurs raised their record to 21-26.
