Kingpins Down Lemurs, 5-3
|
The Chicago Kingpins polished off the Louisville Lemurs by the score of 5-3. The largest share of the credit belonged to right fielder Gumby Phillips. Phillips hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Kingpins. Chicago reliever Balker Weuhler got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Gunther Gerhardt was tagged with the loss. With the win, Chicago raised its record to 25-23.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With one out, Phillips hit a circle change from BJ Ronaldo [BOT] for a 2-run home run. The Kingpins, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It was a solid team effort," said Phillips after the game.
