The California Firehawks picked up a win at PBE Bigger Strange Podcast Stadium: Home of the Waterpigeons, knocking off the Anchorage Wheelers, 5-2. Starting pitcher Dr. Hubert Malbec played a key role in the triumph. California is 22-28 and Anchorage, with the loss, 20-30.
California took a 5-2 lead on Coleman Carver's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Carver hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Anchorage pitcher Jiggs Kingman visibly frustrated.
"Nice win for us," said Carver. "Now we'll go after the next one."
