The home crowd had a good time watching the Kansas City Hepcats and Chicago Kingpins get after it.

Chicago pinch hitter Marco Starr helped his team beat the Kansas City Hepcats, 9-5. Starr went 1 for 1 for the Kingpins. Darius Appleton snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 2.2 innings. He's now 3-2 on the season.

Had Corey Wilson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Wilson hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Kingpins.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Starr told the Chicago Citizen. "It's as simple as that."

By defeating Kansas City, the 4th-place Kingpins improved to 31-26.
