The Brew City Bears spoiled a good performance by Puerto Rico left fielder Votto Joey [BOT], bumping off Puerto Rico, 8-3, at Kay Faraday Memorial Stadium. Joey [BOT] was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Brew City goes to 38-25. The win puts them 4 games up in their division.
Brew City used the timely hitting of Vumion Stitcherson to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bears on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Stitcherson said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
