Hepcats Trounce Kingpins, 13-3
|
The Kansas City Hepcats got production from their entire lineup in an easy 13-3 win over the Chicago Kingpins. Doing his part was third baseman Gnome Child. Child, who is tied for 2nd in the MiLPBE in home runs with 20, went 2 for 6 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Anthony Stover, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-3. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 4 hits and 1 run, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Kansas City, at 45-21, is 4 games up in the West Division.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Les Skoden? The Kansas City shortstop had a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Hepcats on top, 3-1. For the game, Skoden had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Child.
