The performance of Dusty Backstop proved critical in helping State College beat Amarillo, 9-5. The Swift Steeds catcher was 4 for 6 with 4 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Karma Police [BOT], credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. Communist Daughter [BOT] recorded the save for State College, his 2nd of the season.
Enrique von Muy Caliente hit a run-scoring triple off Ray Kwaza in the top of the second, which put the Swift Steeds in front, 1-0. In addition to the triple, von Muy Caliente had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Backstop. "And not try to do too much."
The triumph puts State College at 37-33 for the season.
