Flamingos Earn Late 6-5 Win
|
With third baseman Atlas Sluggs leading the charge, the Florida Flamingos defeated the Anchorage Wheelers, 6-5, at Balto Memorial Field at The Igloo. Sluggs, who is tied for 6th in the MiLPBE in home runs with 13, went 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 3 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The win went to Muffin Heeler in relief, making him now 2-0. Ice Bear took the loss for Anchorage. The win puts Florida at 38-33 this season.
Sluggs had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 2-0 forkball from Ice Bear, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Flamingos a 6-5 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Sluggs.
"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Sluggs. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
