1-0 Triumph Takes Chicago to 44-28
|
The Chicago Kingpins downed the Puerto Rico Ranas, 1-0, at The Jose Forty-Three Stadium. Stellar pitching by Oskar Von Kautz had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the MiLPBE with a 3.39 ERA, handcuffed his opponent all game. Von Kautz, now 7-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no runs. The East Division-leading Kingpins have a record of 44-28.
Troy Monopolitzki came through for Chicago when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a two-strike knuckle curve to left field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.
"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Chicago skipper .
