Brew City Halts Tonyon's Hitting Steak
Tuesday, May 28th , 2075
The Brew City Bears did something to Maverick Tonyon no team had done for the last 20 games -- they stopped him, ending his consecutive-game hitting streak. Unfortunately, they couldn't do the same to the Firehawks, who came away with the 6-5 victory at Walter Partlo Memorial Stadium at The Tap House.
"Hey, I knew it wasn't going to last forever," the 22-year-old left fielder said of the demise of his streak. "It was a good ride while it lasted."
This season, Tonyon has posted a batting average of .316 with 43 hits in 136 at-bats, 4 home runs and 16 RBIs. He has also scored 15 runs, walked 6 times and compiled a .350 OBP.
