Vandals Win at Home, 9-5
|
The Vancouver Vandals defeated the Outer Banks Aviators, 9-5. Shortstop Brooks Walker deserved a large share of the credit. Walker was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times for the Vandals. Reed Rothchild snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 2.1 innings. He's now 3-0 on the season. The Legends Conference West-leading Vandals have a record of 48-32.
McLovin Jr., who finished 5th in the Legends in RBI with 95 in 2071, took Outer Banks hurler Jiggs Kingman deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 3-run home run put the Vandals on top, 5-4. In all, McLovin Jr. had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Walker.
