Voyagers Top Toronto, 6-5
|
In a tight contest at The Lodge, the New York Voyagers edged the Toronto Pathfinders by the score of 6-5. New York left fielder Matsui Hidari, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The winner was New York reliever Ransom Jones, now 3-5. The loser was J.Y. Park. The last-place Pathfinders have lost 5 consecutive games.
One of their superstars provided one of the highlights for New York. It happened with no one out in the top of the ninth. Carl Beaty Jr., who is tied for 8th in the Legends in doubles with 29, hit a run-scoring single on a 1-2 knuckle curve from Oze Bones to put the Voyagers up, 6-5. For the game, the right fielder was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Toronto manager .
