Rougarous Lose at Home, 5-2
|
The Cancun Toros withstood an impressive performance by New Orleans first baseman Air Yordong to defeat the Rougarous, 5-2, at Full Moon Stadium. Yordong slugged 2 home runs. Samuel Smoltz, who finished 4th in the Champions in saves with 13 in 2076, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 2 strikeouts. Picking up the save was Lizzie WOOOOHOOOO. He's now 22 for 30 in save chances.
Cancun used a well-timed hit by Gnome Child to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Toros ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
Cancun manager commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
With the win, Cancun pushed its record to 60-32.
