Vandals Earn Late Win
|
Starting pitcher Andy Beans gave the Vancouver Vandals a rock-solid effort. The Detroit, Michigan native helped his team defeat the Providence Crabs, 3-2, at The Thunderdome. The first-place Vandals, at 68-30, lead the Legends Conference West by 16 games.
Steven Strange was the walk-off hero for Vancouver. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Vandals center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Providence manager . "We just didn't cash in."
