The Vancouver Vandals downed the Outer Banks Aviators, 4-0, at The Island. Stellar pitching by Andy Beans had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who leads the Legends in wins with 14, handcuffed his opponent all game. The winner was Beans. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Brigham Irons. The Vandals have an impressive 71-31 record.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when center fielder Steven Strange, who finished 4th in the Legends in triples with 5 last year, hit a double. The Vandals went on to win.
"Andy set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said Vancouver manager .
