In a tight contest between the Indianapolis Apex and the Death Valley Scorpions, Calm Chicken was the determining factor. The Indianapolis left-hander sparkled in his team's 3-0 win. Chicken, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. Picking up the save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Skyler Stevens.

The Apex prevailed in a game in which the pitchers had the upper hand.

"I tried to establish all my pitches early," said Chicken.

The Scorpions, at 5-12, have stumbled out of the gate.
