Beaty Hits 2 home runs in Toros Win
With catcher Carlton Beaty leading the charge, the Cancun Toros defeated the Detroit Demons, 12-11, at Demon's Lair at Laser Park. Beaty, who finished 4th in the Champions in batting average with .317 last year, went 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The win was credited to Samuel Smoltz in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Thorne Belfour took the loss. The Toros saw their record improve to 17-15.

The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Beaty delivered big-time for Cancun, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Thorne Belfour. The game-changing hit put the Toros on top, 12-11.

"Both teams had plenty of clutch hits," said Beaty. "It made for an exciting game."
