Xicoyotl Montalbán, who finished 2nd in the Champions in slugging percentage with .594 in 2076, led Death Valley to a win over Buffalo. The final score was 5-1. Montalbán collected 2 RBI, while going 3 for 3 at the plate. The third baseman also scored 3 times. Cy Duck, who is tied for 5th in the Champions in wins with 4, was the winner. He's now 4-5. The loser was Stu Macher. The Scorpions raised their record to 14-21.

There was more than one reason the Scorpions beat the Surge, but Montalbán's big at-bat in the top of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
