Toros Lose Late, 3-1
|
Cancun wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher J.C. Swishman, falling to the Indianapolis Apex, 3-1. Swishman threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The winner was Indianapolis reliever Flop Quads, now 2-1. The loser was Roquefort Cotswald. Cancun is now 2-3.
Had Jazzy Thompson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Thompson hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Apex.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Thompson said after the game.
