The Seattle Sea Serpents weathered a fine game by Death Valley third baseman Xicoyotl Montalbán to upend the Scorpions, 5-3, at The Aquadome. Montalbán went 3-4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 3 times. Hercules Mulligan earned the win for Seattle. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 7-0. Kip Treadwell collected his 7th save.

Pass, who finished 4th in the Champions in wins above replacement with 4.3 in 2073, aided the Seattle cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder went 2 for 4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Enjoyed this one," Pass told the Seattle Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

Seattle is now 18-22, Death Valley 23-17.
