Vandals Need Extra Innings to Top Pathfinders, 7-6
|
The Vancouver Vandals beat the Toronto Pathfinders, 7-6, in 10 innings. Vancouver right fielder Pierre Phillip, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Reed Rothchild picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Fridtjof Nansen, who finished 4th in the Legends in saves with 13 in 2069, was tagged with the loss. The win for the Vandals raised their record to 26-15.
The decisive blow was delivered by Brooks Walker in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off four-time All-Star Fridtjof Nansen to win the game for Vancouver. The home crowd went nuts.
"Walking a team off at the end -- there's no greater feeling," said Walker.
