Voyagers Squelch Apex Offense in Shutout Win
|
New York beat Indianapolis on the strength of starter Taylor Adkins's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-0. Adkins, now 8-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no runs. New York is now 30-23, while Indianapolis is 27-26.
The Voyagers got an important contribution from designated hitter Brian Payne, who in the top of the fourth hit a fastball into right-center for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Voyagers ahead, 3-0.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said New York skipper . "I can't complain."
