Sluggs Hammers 2 Homers in 9-4 Win
|
The 9-4 Vancouver win over Outer Banks was due largely to Atlas Sluggs. The Vandals designated hitter went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Vancouver goes to 34-22. The win puts them 5 games up in their division.
Enrique von Caliente had a big 2-run double for the Vandals in the top of the first inning. With Vancouver leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from Jiggs Kingman, who is tied for 4th in the Legends with a 1.08 WHIP, and swatted a double to left. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Vandals ahead, 3-0.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Vandals manager .
