Sea Serpents Trip Scorpions, 4-3, in Extra Innings
|
The Seattle Sea Serpents defeated the Death Valley Scorpions, 4-3, in Champions Conference action at Cari Price Memorial Stadium. Seattle pitcher Mejiro McQueen had a standout performance. Kip Treadwell, now 2-7, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Archie Richards picked up his 2nd save of the season.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Willderman Pérez? The 25-year old catcher Pérez stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put Seattle up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"It was a solid team effort," said McQueen after the game.
The last-place Sea Serpents lifted their record to 28-37.
