Angle Is King of Swing: Goes Deep 3 Times Wednesday, July 17th , 2075 It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses. It happened at Cari Price Memorial Stadium, as Launch Angle of the Death Valley Scorpions unloaded three times against the New York Voyagers but was still bumped off, 9-8, by the Voyagers. "We were lucky to win today," said New York skipper . "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis." For the game, the Death Valley first baseman had 4 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 4. Angle spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well. "I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball." Launch Angle hit a two-run home run off PDub Woods in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off PDub Woods in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Ya Hound in the 7th and walked in the 9th. For the season, Angle has produced 73 hits in 259 at-bats for a .282 average with 17 home runs and gotten on base at a .331 clip. |
