Scorpions Montalbán Hits 200th Homer
Tuesday, May 3rd , 2078
It was a great day for Xicoyotl Montalbán, but not a good one for his Death Valley Scorpions. The 33-year-old third baseman reached a personal milestone with his 200th career homer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Indianapolis Apex, who came away with a 12-3 victory. Montalbán finished the day with 1 hit, 3 RBI and 1 run scored.
"Well, I've conceded the fact that you can't will yourself to hit a home run," he said. "I tried hard for the last few days. It was getting to be embarrassing with the crowd standing up every time I came to the plate."
Montalbán has played in 1091 games with a .271 lifetime batting average. Among his 1183 hits are 277 doubles, 33 triples and 200 home runs. He has also scored 739 runs and driven in 661 runs.
