3-Homer Hat Trick for Keli Sunday, June 21st , 2071 It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses. It happened at The Island today, as Kerry Keli of the Buffalo Surge unloaded three times against the Outer Banks Aviators but was still bumped off 13-12 by the Aviators. "We were lucky to win today," said Outer Banks skipper . "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis." For the game, the Buffalo first baseman had 4 hits in 6 at-bats, scored 4 times, and drove in 7. Keli spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well. "I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball." Kerry Keli hit an RBI double in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Archie Richards in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Alejandro Abasi in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Maximillion Porter in the 9th. For the season Keli is hitting .310, batted in 49 runs with 15 home runs and 46 runs scored. |
