New Orleans Defeated by Providence, 7-4
|
The Providence Crabs trumped the New Orleans Rougarous, 7-4, at The Pot. Providence third baseman Paulo Zalewski was terrific. He was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Crabby Pebbles, the winner, improved to 11-4. He held the Rougarous to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 3. The Crabs bumped their record to 55-31 with this win.
Beryl Summers had a big 3-run home run for the Crabs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Providence leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a curveball from 2076 Rookie of the Year Award winner Brian Eshleman III and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Crabs on top, 6-2.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Zalewski said after the game.
