The Cancun Toros knocked off the Indianapolis Apex, 5-4, in Champions Conference action at The Brickyard. Cancun pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Pedro Martini had an outstanding performance. Samuel Smoltz snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 1 hit over 3.1 innings. He's now 3-2 on the season. The triumph puts Cancun at 54-46 for the season.

Cancun used a timely hit from Tyler Detherage to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Toros ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

Cancun manager commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
